Utah Septic System Design

Jones and DeMille Engineering has years of experience in FEMA related work. Our engineers are familiar with applicable state and federal floodplain regulations and practices. When it comes to completing an elevation certificate, we have you covered.

  1. Step 1 — You hire an engineer
  2. Step 2 — You provide background information and applicable design information (locations, type of development, etc.)
  3. Step 3 — If a soil classification or percolation test is not provided, then the engineer will perform one
  4. Step 4 — The engineer designs the septic system
  5. Step 5 — The engineer then provides a design for you to review
  6. Step 6 — Once the design is reviewed and finalized, the engineer will complete a wastewater permit application
  7. Step 7 — The completed application and design is then provided to you to submit to the local health department

Depending on the type of development, the design will have to meet additional requirements. One of the first questions we ask is if the total system will produce more than 5,000 gallons of wastewater per day. If it doesn't, then a very similar process will be followed as described above. If it does, then it will be considered a “large system” and the regulating authority will likely be the State. If this is the case, then we will help you through the design and construction process.
